In 1998, Dr Chhaparwal retunred to Udaipur, his Home town after completing his Masters in Surgery (Orthopaedics) and DNB (Diplomate of National Board) in Mumbai. He was looking for a way to raise funds to support his American dream. By 2004, Dr Chhaparwal and his wife, Dr. Devashree (co-founder), had made enough money to fly Westward but they had begun to realise the huge opportunity of service to the Nation and Home City, that lay at their own doorstep. Their INR 60 lakh and some loans brought the 15-bed hospital in to light by 2006, their dedication made it possible to be self reliant soon and since then they have never looked back. Dr Chhaparwal further says money had never been the main motivator, his mission was to provide affordable health care to the under-served. Since 2004, he had been launching new Centres almost on a yearly basis. “Each Centre turns self-reliant in about two years,” he adds.
