This position will serve as a Software Field Systems Engineer (FSE) for Cienarsquos packet-optical portfolio , focused in the Asia-Pacific region. Primary focus will be on the NMS and management , operations , and design / planning software components of the portfolio. Several activities are implied , matching the various stages of an expected sales cycle , including: Business Development functions Pre-sales architecture and solution design Detailed architecture and solution engineering , including RFx response activity and Configure-Price-Quote (CPQ) activities Support for demonstrations , trials , and proofs of concepts Interfacing with the customers at all stages , acting as the primary technical voice for Ciena as relates to the packet and packet-optical solutions offered Liaising with several organizations within Ciena , including local / country sales teams , partners and channels , as well as technical , sales , commercial teams scoped as APAC-focused and / or globally focused Works within a cross-functional team in support of a Cienarsquos packet-optical solutions in APAC: Assist the sales team and regional SErsquos with analysis and evaluation of customerrsquos technical requirements Develop Bill of Materials following regional SEs directives , respond to RFPs and customer technical inquiries with a strong focus on software requirements Develop and recommend Ciena software products and solutions Construct the software pricing schedules as part of RFP responses Work as a team with local sales teams and other functions within Ciena to understand pricing and impacts to customers and Ciena business. Propose alternate solutions to align to Cienarsquos value proposition. Use North American PLM team to understand product roadmaps with particular impact to cost drivers Communicates with customers (and channels / partners) across APAC at a range of levels , to champion Cienarsquos portfolio , especially the NMS aspects. Shows strong ability to communicate a good blend of technology / networking trends , as well as business value of Ciena solutions. This implies frequent and sustained engagement to build and maintain the customerrsquos trust and confidence during long sales cycles and drive to successful outcome for Ciena.
